  • CORPO A CORPO

    Italy 2018 68'
    Directed by: Francesco Corona

On September 24, 2005, after the Verona-Brescia match, police and visiting fans clashed at the local train station. Several people were injured, and a young man remained on the ground, almost lifeless. Paolo Scaroni fell into a coma and woke up two months later, severely disabled as a consequence of his beating by the riot squad. He was a member of the ultraradical group “Brescia 1911”. The film reconstructs eleven years of his life, following his difficult journey in trying to obtain justice and find a new identity as man.

  • LA REGINA DI CASETTA
    The Queen of Casetta

    Italy 2018 79'
    Directed by: Francesco Fei

Gregoria is the only little girl living in Casetta di Tiara, a village in the middle of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines that counts only 10 inhabitants. This is her last year there: in September, she will have to move downstream to attend high school. The film itself will end on that day. The story describes one year spent with her in this isolated area of the Apennines, still echoing the verses of poet Dino Campana who used to come over often. The passage of the seasons, the natural rituals, gathering chestnuts, hunting wild boars, snow in winter – all this accompanies the days of Gregoria, her parents, and people from the same town.

    Italy 2018 58'
    Directed by: Livia Giunti

Paola Berselli and Stefano Pasquini are great orators and their theater is based on the oral history, on the oral transmission of personal experiences and stories. For years they have been narrating themselves with gestures and above all with words. They are artists who have brought their individual lives and and the relationship on stage. They have turned their kitchen into a stage and the stage into their kitchen.

  • PENTCHO

    Italy, UK 2018 80'
    Directed by: Stefano Cattini

On May 18th, 1940, the old tug boat Pentcho left the port of Bratislava on the Danube. It carried 520 Jews - Czechs, Slovaks, and Poles - who wanted to go down the river to Sulina, on the Black Sea. There, they were supposed to board a bigger ship to proceed to Palestine. The tug boat had to cross several borders and was repeatedly halted and impounded. Every time, miraculously, the passengers managed to continue their journey. When, at last, the Pentcho arrived to Sulina, five months had gone by and the ship that was supposed to save them wasn’t there. The captain made a brave decision and continued to travel until the boat engine, not adequate for the sea, broke down. The boat was stranded on a deserted island. After struggling for ten days, the shipwrecked Jews were saved by an Italian military ship, Camogli. However, during the war Italy sided with Germany. Were the victims saved ordid only another odyssey begin?

  • QUASI DOMANI
    Almost Tomorrow

    Italy 2018 52'
    Directed by: Gianluca Loffredo

Quasi domani describes an ancient village in Calabria where, over the past few years, immigrants have reached the same number as the original inhabitants. Five individual stories contribute to the portrayal of the slow, difficult process of integration. One of them, Sami, was born in Burkina Faso and is now an Italian citizen; another, Torab, has fully integrated in the Calabrian lifestyle but misses his motherland, Afghanistan. Those who find a job, like Mohammed, can leave the accommodation centre and rent a house on their own. Edgar, instead, an Armenian political refugee, is obliged to migrate again in order to find a job. And then Lamin, who has been waiting for the papers that would allow him to restart life for three years. The backdrop to all these life stories is Cassano Ionio, a village on the sea filled with contradictions, anger, and generosity.

  • STORIA DAL QUI

    Italy 2018 74'
    Directed by: Eleonora Mastropietro

Ascoli Satriano, Puglia region, Italy, a small hinterland village, now deserted. The ‘here’ where ‘there is nothing’ – as everyone keeps saying to Eleonora, who has just come back after a life spent in Milan – is opposed to the ‘there’, the ‘country of everything,’ i.e. the city where her parents moved in the sixties. She feels separated from the ‘here’ that she has never known but has always been present through family stories, references, and mementos. She has come back to give a picture to words that were not hers; they were spoken by her family and by Adele, the village girl that she met as a child on the only trip down south.
