  • ANTON CORBIJN INSIDE OUT

    Netherlands, Great Britain 2012 85'
    Directed by: Klaartje Quirijns
Tom Waits, Depeche Mode, U2, REM, John Lee Hooker, Bryan Ferry, Rolling Stones, Nick Cave: these are just some of the artists photographed by Anton Corbijn in his unique black and white pictures. A tireless worker, Corbijn is also behind many video clips (Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers), as well as two feature films (Control, film about Ian Curtis, the leader of Joy Division, and The American, shot in Italy and starring George Clooney). The film offers an intimate portrait, revealing the conflict of a man with a glorious career: the sacrifice of a private life against the career, the economical success against the desire for artistic recognition and the admiration of the public against a strong need for solitude of a shy and reserved man.

  • CAPITAINE THOMAS SANKARA

    Switzerland 2012 101'
    Directed by: Christophe Cupelin
A man-at-arms, a very good speaker, a rabble-rouser, an irreverent and unconventional figure, Thomas Sankara – President of Burkina Faso 1984-1987 – embodied the dream of an Africa emancipated from poverty, from illiteracy, and from the subjection to the great powers. Christophe Cupelin conducted a skilful editing of rare archive footage, thus reconstructing the worldly path of this extraordinary character.

  • THE IRAN JOB

    USA, Iran, Germany 2012 93'
    Directed by: Till Schauder
On the one hand, an African American basketball player, energetic and with a great sense of humor; on the other hand, A.S. Shiraz, an Iranian basketball team hoping to reach the playoffs. In between, two countries promising war against each other and repeatedly accusing each other. The Iran Job starts from this well-known scenario to discover a different one: a place where meetings are more interesting than fights, where friendships overcome cultural and gender barriers and where human warmth is stronger than the cold and violent interests of politics.
