  • BOMBAY BEACH

    USA 2011 80'
    Directed by: Alma Har'el
Benny, CeeJay, and Red live in Bombay Beach – the poorest county in California, once a renowned resort, and now a decadent site. Their lives hang between upset and hope, grief and dream. This film proceeds on the thin edge between these distinctions and exposes what is left of the broken American dream in a powerful and imaginative way: shining slivers reverberating poetry. Soundtrack by Bob Dylan and Beirut.

  • THE BLACK POWER MIXTAPE 1967-1975

    USA 2011 92'
    Directed by: Göran Olsson
Based on the 16mm films shot by Swedish cameramen in the late Sixties and enriched by a soundtrack, produced by Ahmir Khalib, gathering some of the most important figures in black music (Harry Belafonte, Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu), the film explores the Black Panthers movement, depicting the atmosphere of those years. Charismatic leaders like Angela Davis, Stokely Carmichael, Bobby Steale are representative of a radical change in American society and of the beginning of a period of fight and conflict which involved all Western societies.

  • WILD THING

    France 2011 104'
    Directed by: Jérôme De Missolz
A search into the twists and turns of rock music. From relatively underground names – like Reg Presley of The Troggs, authors of the song giving the title to the film – to famous stars: Iggy Pop, Pete Doherty, Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones, Clash, Velvet Underground, Joy Division, Motorhead. What is that energy which stirs body and soul and which has inevitably captured everyone since the first time that Elvis shook his pelvis on TV? S journey in a culture that greatly shaped lives and fortunes in the twentieth century.
