QUEEN - DOUBLE FEATURE
Our section HIT ME WITH MUSIC! - Festival dei Popoli's music documentaries - offers you a real double feature in an evening entirely dedicated to one of the most loved rock groups of all time: the Queen.
Tuesday 6 November, at Cinema La Compagnia (beginning at 9:15 pm) two extraordinary documentaries will be presented, one after the other, set at different times of the British group's career and using precious vintage images from the BBC archives, specially restored.
QUEEN: ROCK THE WORLD
di Christopher Bird (UK, 2017, 60’) - With the Director in-person
A backstage of the revolutionary tour of Queen in the U.S. in 1977. BBC reporter Bob Harris was given exclusive access to the tour, which allowed him to capture private moments of the band in a significant phase of their career. However, the film was never completed. Now it has been accurately restored and revisited, offering an extensive portrayal of one of the greatest bands of all time.
QUEEN + BEJART: BALLET FOR LIFE
di Lynne Wake (UK, 2018, 60’) With the Director in-person
The extraordinary collaboration of Queen and visionary choreographer Maurice Béjart led to create a dance show accompanied by the music of Queen and Mozart. Using backstage videos of the Paris premiere of Ballet for Life and clips of never-seen interviews with Maurice Béjart, this documentary pays homage to a generation of artists who died from AIDS in the early nineties, including Freddie Mercury and the dancer Jorge Donn.
