FISHTAIL
A film by Andrew Renzi (USA, 2014, 65’)
Spazio Alfieri - 10.30 pm

Two men on horseback ride all alone toward the wide horizon of boundless prairies of Montana. Over these images is a melancholy melody and the voice of the narrator, Harry Dean Stanton. This is not a western, but it might well be. Andrew Renzi has composed a simple elegy that not only describes the rustic life of cowboys – an endangered anthropological species – but also pays tribute in terms of rhetoric to an entire film genre, The Western. This genre has contributed to shape the cowboy character in the collective imagination of modern occidental civilization.
