According to the limits set forth by the People’s Republic of China as far as birth rate control is concerned, Xu Huijing - as second-born child - should have never been born. It is from this particular existential condition that he felt the need to come back to his village of origin in Northern China to tell about the ordinary enforcement of the controlled procreation procedures and show the repression that bureaucracy and statistics carry out on the bodies of women of fertile age.
