Glenn Gould was the greatest pianist of the twentieth century. Everything about him was exaggerated, in¬novative, absurd. His extraordinary technique could bring out mean¬ing and tension from the musical score that dictated wholly unexpected figures of sound, taking the listener to “some other place”, a world in which every note was heard as if for the first time. Aged thirty-two he retired from the concert circuit to the recording studio spend¬ing the last years of his life in almost total isolation. Il film, with precious archive material, is a comprehensive portrait of Gould's genius.
